Artwork in the films

Miyazaki, which is perhaps obvious, ensures a lot of effort is put into the artwork in his films, which is evident through the attention paid to the detail in his "natural" scenes (gardens, forests). I recall reading somewhere that one of the reasons Miyazaki has never considered digital animation is because digital rendering takes away from the warmth that can be produced through a hand painted image. I find myself agreeing with that sentiment. I cannot think of an animated movie that was digitally rendered which comes close to the warmth generated in Miyazaki's films, such as the opening scene of Kiki's, or the meadow in Howl's.
